Mid-Michigan District Health Department (MMDHD) is pleased to announce the promotion of Bonnie Havlicek, RN, BSN, to the position of Community Health and Education Division (CHED) Director, effective November 14, 2011. Havlicek replaces Andrea Tabor, who accepted a position with Spectrum Health Visiting Nurses Association in Grand Rapids.
Havlicek first served the residents of Montcalm County as a Public Health Nurse from 1994 to 1995. She then returned to the agency in 2000 as a Supervisor based in the Gratiot County Branch Office. In 2006 she transferred to the Montcalm Branch Office where she continued to serve in a supervisory role until her recent promotion.
Havlicek describes being able to impact so many people in the community and making a difference as ‘wonderful.’
“It’s so satisfying to see the results of the agency’s work,” she said. “To see families make good health choices as a result of the information they receive from the health department is such a great feeling.”
According to Havlicek, she sees evidence of the health department’s work almost everywhere she goes. For example, when she attends a graduation she doesn’t just see a graduate, she sees someone who has thrived because his parents got him immunized, and received health care and nutrition education needed to help him grow into a healthy young adult.
“It’s a pleasure to be asked to fill the CHED Director position,” said Havlicek. “I look forward to the increased interaction with community partners and to continue working with the MMDHD team.”
