Baker offers new technical training

Baker College of Owosso is offering a variety of technical training workshops in January and February.
“Introduction to Blue Print Reading” will cover the fundamentals necessary to read and interpret construction and industrial drawings and prepare simple sketches.
Presentation will incorporate hands-on activities and cover drawing symbols, line conventions, orthographic projections, notes, revisions, and much more! This workshop will meet Friday, January 20, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Baker College Technical Center for Studies.
“Fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T)” will introduce the many benefits of using GD & T in manufacturing. Join us to explore the symbols, terminology, and rules of Geometric Tolerancing. This workshop will meet Friday, January 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Baker College Technical Center for Studies.
Beginning and Advanced MIG Welding classes begin Monday, January 9, 2012. Please contact us for more information. Several short welding courses are also available for the novice welder in the Welding Lab at the Technical Center.
In “Fundamentals of Stick Welding” participants will practice shielded metal arc welding, torch cutting, and plasma cutting. This two-part session will meet January 24 and 26, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
“Basic Welding Maintenance and Repair” will focus on preserving and reconditioning equipment. Participants will learn to repair weld imperfections or damaged products using arc processes along with techniques for cleaning, cutting, bending, and grinding metal materials. This workshop is scheduled on February 21 and 23, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
