Bookaholics and more
Bookaholics Book Club
Briggs Library is starting a summer book club. Join other Bookaholics on the 3rd Thursday of each month at Bruno’s Wonder Bar in downtown St. Johns for a relaxing evening of good books, conversation, food and drinks. The fun begins Thursday, June 21st at 7pm with “The Life of Pi” by Yann Martel; copies will be available at the library starting Thursday, May 24th. We have other great selections on tap for the remainder of the summer: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon will be discussed on July 19th, and “Early Bird: A Memoir of Premature Retirement” by Rodney Rothman on August 16th. Stop by the library circulation desk for further information on individual titles, or to pick up your copy. The book club is open to all adult patrons ages 21 and up with a valid library card.
Ghost Hunters
Representatives from the SouthEast Michigan Ghost Hunters Society will be visiting Briggs Public Library. The SEMGHS has been investigating paranormal activity across the country for 16 years. Their investigations have been featured on the Discovery Channel’s “A Haunting,” and now you can see the results of those investigations in person! Join us for this free family program Thursday, June 7th from 6-8pm. Registration opened on May 17th for all patrons with a valid library card.
eReader Program
Do you have an eReader? Come to our class and learn how to borrow free eBooks from the library. This class covers all the basics — setup, downloading, and which devices support library eBooks. We’ll demonstrate the checkout, download and transfer process through Overdrive and answer all your eReader questions. You’re welcome to bring your device, though it is not required. Two class times available on Tuesday, June 5 from 10:00-11:00 a.m or 7:00-8:00 p.m. Required registration began on May 15 and you must have a valid Library card to sign up.
Calling All Dreamers
Readers of all ages will explore the night as the library presents “Dream Big-READ!” as their theme this summer. We will explore stargazing, dreams and wishes, space exploration, nocturnal animals, pajama-time and more. Our program is open to children ages 12 months and up, teens, and adults.
