Adult Book Discussion
The Bookaholics selection for September is now available at the library circulation desk. We will be reading “Dark Places” by Gillian Flynn, the author of #1 bestseller “Gone Girl.” All adult patrons age 21 and up are invited to join us at Bruno’s Bar in downtown St. Johns on Thursday, September 20th at 7:30pm.
Schwan’s Fundraiser
The Schwan’s truck will be in front of the Briggs Public Library on Wednesday, September 26th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to assist the library in raising funds for the purchase of materials. Up to 20% of the funds taken in from the fundraiser will be donated to the Library. There are four ways you can participate in the fundraiser:
1. Purchase items the day of the event.
2. Pick up a paper order form from the Library, select items you wish to purchase and turn it back into the Library by Wednesday September 19th. Items will be delivered to the Library the day of the event and payment can be made at that time.
3. Reserve products online for pick up at the Library the day of the event. Go to www.schwansfundraising.com and use campaign Id: 40291.
4. Order a gift certificate(s) by calling 1-888-SCHWANS, inform the representative you want to purchase a gift card(s) and provide the campaign Id: 40291 or go to www.schwan’s.com, click on the gift card link and follow the directions including entering the campaign Id: 40291 on the right side of the screen under Gift Cards for Fund Raising and click submit.
The certificate will ship to address of your choice. Gift certificates are a great way to help the library and still support your local driver if you are already receiving delivery at your residence. Gift certificates also make great holiday gifts. For additional details on the fundraiser, stop by the library desk or call (989)224-4702.
Adult Summer Reading Program
We have wrapped up another successful Adult Summer Reading Program, with participants reading and reviewing more than 160 books over the program’s 8-week run. We would also like to congratulate our final five winners: Scott Mohre, Lori Van Amburg, Jill Griffet, and Carla Wardin won our final weekly drawings and Roberta Motz was the winner in our grand prize drawing. We must also thank Carol Fedewa and the Briggs Library Friends group for their invaluable contributions to the success of the program.
Lapsit Program: GRIN & “BEAR” IT!
The fall Lapsit Program for ages 12 to 24 months with adult participation will be on Monday evenings, 6:30-7, September 10th – October 15th OR Friday mornings,10-10:30, September 14th – October 19th. We will share age appropriate stories, creative movement, music and more! Bring your baby and foster a love of books and reading right from the start. Repeated fun with books will strengthen language development and positive feelings about reading. Registration is required. Bring your baby into a bright future through books and music at storytimes.
