Lawmaker to serve on four other panels, hosts office hours
State Rep. Tom Leonard has been named vice chair of the House Insurance Committee for the 2013-14 legislative session.
“Gov. Snyder made insurance reform one of his top priorities in his State of the State address. I look forward to having the opportunity to review the governor’s proposal and working closely with my colleagues to make positive reforms for Michigan citizens,” said Rep. Leonard, R-DeWitt Township. “There is much work to be done and I believe Michigan’s hard-working taxpayers deserve our very best.”
In addition, Rep. Leonard will serve on the Commerce, Judiciary and Oversight committees and the new Michigan Competitiveness Committee.
“Government efficiency and effectiveness is crucial as we continue Michigan’s march toward economic success,” Rep. Leonard said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to serve on the Oversight Committee to help ensure that taxpayer dollars are used in the most efficient and effective way possible.”
State Rep. Tom Leonard will host office hours in February, and plans to meet on a regular basis with residents of the 93rd District.
Rep. Leonard will host office hours at the Big Boy restaurant in St. Johns, 1408 S. U.S. 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8. He also will sponsor office hours at the Mayor’s Office Coffee Shop, 142 E. Center St. in Ithaca on Friday, Feb. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m.
He plans to meet with constituents in St. Johns on the second Friday of every month at Big Boy and in Ithaca on the third Friday of each month at the Mayor’s Office Coffee Shop.
“I will make it a priority to meet with the hard-working taxpayers of the 93rd District and listen to their concerns and ideas,” Rep. Leonard said. “I strongly believe in being accountable to the constituents I serve and I look forward to meeting with them at my office hours each month.”
