What do I think?

by Barry Bauer
Is marijuana legal in Washington D. C.? I’m starting to think those people are on something. All the stuff we hear coming out of that city doesn’t make any sense. Sequestration was first proposed by Obama and now he says it’s stupid. Does that mean he was stupid for suggesting it? Basically what he did was give the Republicans some lip service during a budget battle fourteen months ago to get them off his back. Now he claims it was all their idea – what a liar.
Obama is what could be best described as the Boogeyman-in-Chief. He occupies the Oval Office and he enjoys running around yelling, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling!”
Sequestration basically means automatic cuts in deficit spending if Congress and the White House can’t come to an agreement they call a “continuing resolution.” That means no budget again this year and they’ll continue to spend like there’s no tomorrow. If Sequestration takes place most of the cuts will from the Defense Department’s budget which is absolutely stupid in the world we live in.
If they can’t find 85 billion dollars of waste in a government that spends 1.4 trillion dollars more than it takes in, all is lost anyway.
It’s a pissing match in D. C. and Obama’s winning right now because he’s the “American Idol President.” People are blinded by the light, you know, the halo. The nation will end up being the big loser. I don’t want the common man and woman to pay the fiddler; I want those bums in Washington to pay – personally.
I want to see Sequestration happen and if the sky falls and the World ends you can blame me. Certainly it isn’t Obama’s fault because he never does anything wrong. There again, he’s a super star.

I first became aware there was a Pope in 1958 when Pope Pius XII was dying and one of the photo magazines (I don’t know which one) did a photo shoot of his last days.
He was followed by Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul I, Pope John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVI (266th Pope). Although I’m not Catholic nor do I claim to be religious but I’ve always followed the Popes. I look up to anybody who can make this world a better place.
My favorite of the group was Pope John Paul I who was elected and died a couple of months later. He seemed like a kind and decent person who would have been well suited for the job.
Apparently the politics taking place inside the Vatican and the continuing sex scandal has caused Pope Benedict XVI to resign. I know, religion and politics are intertwined which is always an interesting combination. I think he wants more time to pray for the Church. I hope people are praying for him.

And Furthermore:
Given the incompetent behavior of the federal government in recent years you would be wise to heed advice to keep your guns and your Bible close. You’re going to need them.
Is it me or was the Academy Awards boring?
You would think Mayor Bloomberg of New York City had more important things to do than ban 2-Litre bottles of soft drinks. Does he want us to believe he’s solved the homeless or crime problem in his city?
Another good piece of advice, ask questions and expect answers.
Until the next time . . .
