Diane Zuker, right, was named Auxilian of the Year by members of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary. Her name was added to a commemorative plaque presented by immediate past recipient, Nancy Mino.
Diane is regularly among the ranks of Auxilians in the midst of a project, but just as frequently she is contributing behind the scenes, quietly ensuring that her portion of the effort is accomplished. That modest approach to her responsibility as a member – and also secretary – of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary earned Diane Zuker the honor of Auxilian of the Year 2013. The recognition was announced during a special meeting of the fund raising committee as they wrapped up final details for the annual “Gals Fore Giving” golf tournament.
Diane’s extra efforts were not only directed to special projects underway, but included thoughtful remembrances of others with unsolicited offerings of homemade treats and desserts, enticingly decorated and tastily prepared.
Diane, who is more widely known as Clerk of Clinton County, accepted the tribute consistent with her role as an Auxilian in a quiet and unassuming manner. “I really wish all the Auxilians could be named Auxilian of the Year. They are a great bunch of ladies and I love working with all of them, everyone deserves credit for all their efforts on behalf of the Auxiliary! They make my job so easy as Secretary of the Auxiliary and I am honored to be a part of such a fine group of ladies. I love them all!”
Her name was added to a plaque which hangs in the main entrance to the hospital.
Diane’s selection was announced by Nancy Mino, immediate past recipient of the award.
According to co-president Ann Hufnagel, Diane’s participation is but one example of the willingness of members to work toward the goal of supporting the hospital. “We have an exceptionally generous and unselfish group,” commented Mrs. Hufnagel. “Members not only are open with ideas and personal suggestions, but willingly join in the collective effort to achieve whatever project is adopted.”
Currently, the Auxiliary is deep into meeting a $100,000.00 pledge toward the addition of an emergency wing which is scheduled for ground breaking around mid-July.
