USDA closes puppy mill loophole
The USDA has closed the internet breeding loophole in the Animal Welfare Act, and it is a great day for the animals. Now online animal and puppy mills are accountable in the same way as other breeders.
While this is definitely a reason to celebrate, we must not rest on our laurels. It is up to us to not assume all the animals are safe.
Puppy mills are still a huge problem in the United States.
We must encourage adopting and fostering the animals who are ready to go home, but sit in pounds waiting to be euthanized.
This win with the USDA is a huge victory for us and for the animals, so let’s use our energy and organizing power to keep being a voice for those who need us most.
Thank you for making my birthday wish come true and thanks Secretary Vilsack and the brave members of Congress who fought to make this a reality. Onwards!
