Benny and Jessie's Pet Info

Stop the gassing
Hi, this is Benny and Jesie asking for your help in a very important matter to us and all our furry friends. We need to help stop the gassing right here in Michigan which could affect your own pet.
Please follow the instructions below to help us speak out on this matter.
We thank you for your time . . . woof, woof.
Please join the ASPCA in supporting pending state legislation to end the use of gas chambersin Michigan animal shelters. Companion animals in shelters deserve the same peaceful process that any pet owner’s veterinarian would offer when the time comes.
This bill passed the Senate unanimously—now we need your help to get it through the House of Representatives and onto the governor’s desk!
When euthanasia must occur, we recommend euthanasia by injection (EBI) performed by trained professionals, according to AVMA guidelines, in order to make the procedure as peaceful and painless as possible. EBI is far more humane for the animals, is safer for workers, and costs less than using the gas chamber.

What You Can Do

Contact your Michigan rep in Lansing and ask him/her to support Senate Bill 354 to ban the use of gas chambers in Michigan shelters! This important bill will protect pets by replacing outdated and unsafe gas chambers with the far more humane method of euthanasia by injection (EBI).
Thank you for speaking up for your state’s vulnerable animals, Michigan!

As you may have read in the paper or heard on TV, the horrific cruelty placed on a female pit bull in Lansing that was stabbed, neck slashed and strung on a rope. This is a tragedy for any animal to have to go through and my hope is that the guilty are arrested and brought to justice. Of course that is another story when this happens and they are caught, the sentence never fit’s the cruelty and until that can be corrected this will be an on going story forever.
At the same time, a small dog was shot at a park also in Lansing.
I just called Ingham Co Animal Control and have donated money to add to the reward already formed. Animals are close to my heart and thought this was one way I could help.
Pit bulls that are used and trained by their owners to fight are sometimes put to death because they had lost a “fight”. If this was the case this is in all probability could be why it happened.
I urge everyone to always keep their eyes and ears open no matter where they are and if they even suspect anything, please call the local animal control right away. This kind of treatment has to stop because there are other options out there.
