Bi-Monthly meeting of the Friends of The Maple River

The Friends of The Maple River (FOMR) will hold it’s Bi-Monthly meeting on Wednesday March 19th at the Clinton County Courthouse ( Commissioners room) in St Johns. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. The public is welcome to attend.
Mr. Phil Hathaway, who has considerable involvement with the Shiawassee River, will be the guest speaker. He will share his insight into programs and problems associated with dam removal, dam restoration, organized quiet water float trips, conservation easements, and group fundraising opportunities and activities.
A business meeting will follow and will include nominations for board members and officers. The formal election of officers will occur at the annual May meeting.
Please note that the FOMR has scheduled log jam removal days work bees for the Maple River on Saturday May 3rd and again on May 10th. To provide safe passage for canoes and kayaks on the river, will require the removal of woody debris blocking boat passage on the river. The severe winter ice storm has downed numerous trees into the river. This work bee will make it possible for safe passage of canoes and kayaks who participate in the FOMR sponsored Quiet Waters annual Maple River float trip scheduled for May 29th. We need your help to clear woody debris for the float trip. To volunteer your help or for information about the woody debris work bee, call Mr. Jack Nutter at 809-862-5541.
