A full schedule of classes await budding artists at The Depot as Clinton County Arts Council opens its annual “Save some summer for Arts” kids art camp, offering monthly theme keyed classes from June through October.
Co-sponsored by Sparrow Clinton Hospital, the series is open for kids from 6 to 13 years of age and classes include dealing with various media, materials and art forms from painting to sculpture to jewelry designs. All classes will be held at The Depot Friday and Saturdays and have a registration fee of $12.00 ($10.00 for Association members). Class hours each session will be 10 a.m. to noon for ages 6 through 9 and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for ages 10 through 13.
The art camp begins June 21 with Marbled Paper Collage followed the next day with crayon impressions on canvas. Barb Darling will be the instructor.
July topics will be taught by Elizabeth Davis. July 12 will be Acrylic painting on canvas. July 13, Ms. Davis will feature sculpturing with plaster, sand and shell.
Two focused classes will be held July 19 and 20, with a registration fee of $20.00 ($18.00 for members). During this two-day session, students will be dealing with paper mache and paints. Ms. Davis will lead the class each day.
The August classes will be lead by Kelsey Best. On August 9 students will participate in Narrative Collaging. Following, on Aug. 10, the topic will be Felt Making Jewelry.
There will be two classes in the Fall, Saturday September 21 and Saturday Oct. 12. Projects for these sessions will be announced later in the summer.
