Animals, Objects, Nutcrackers suggest Christmas in July

July 14
Christmas in July is an oft used cliché to move merchandise or push a sale, but applied to the works of artist Barb Ladisky it takes on sole significance. Barb will be the featured artist at Clinton County Arts Council Gallery July 14 during the regular monthly Sunday Event.
The tie-in to Christmas, of course, comes from her ample display of Nutcracker pieces, lightly reflecting the spirit of the holiday season and offering advance gift possibilities. But beyond that persuasive suggestion, Barb offers a fascinating display of paintings on such things as wooden boxes, discarded tables and chairs and, of all things, wooden ironing boards. It’s a variety of fascinating works that surprise the imagination.
As usual, this monthly open house will run Sunday July 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with refreshments on the agenda. The upcoming event is sponsored by Friends of the Gallery.
The Gallery is located at 215 N. Clinton Ave. in St. Johns and information regarding these monthly get-togethers – and other Council related activities – can be obtained by calling 989 224-2329 or visiting www.clintoncountyarts.com.
Activities of the Arts Council are made possible through generous sponsorships, such as offered by the Rotary Club and regular membership dues and donations. These sources are supplemented by periodic grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs which is a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
