Revisit Past Artists

Spring into Art!
An exciting review of artists throughout history coupled with opportunities to create a variety of projects based on their works rests at the core of a new, eight week program offered through Clinton County Arts Council. Students age 12 through high school will learn about famous artists and create art projects in a variety of media based on their works.
The course begins Tuesday March 4 and convenes each Tuesday through April 29 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., except for a break on April 8. Classes will be led by Barb Darling who has been an art instructor for over ten years with K-12 students and for the past four years, has served as instructor and coordinator of the St. Johns Save Some Summer for Art program at the Arts Council’s Gallery.
The opening session suggests the depth of study students will experience as they are introduced to Leonardo da Vinci and explore one of his most famous works, Mona Lisa. Students will learn about the formula for facial features and place the painting in a modern setting. A sample of other artists to be studied includes Michelangelo Buonarroti, Jan Vermeer and Rembrandt van Rijn.
Classes will be held at 102 N. Clinton Ave. and the fee of $112.00 for the eight week series includes all necessary materials.
Registration may be completed at Clinton County Arts Council Gallery at 215 N. Clinton Ave., St. Johns, 989 224-2429 or by contacting Ms. Darling, 517 719-9885.
