1973 Clinton County Boxing Club
by Barry Bauer

Front row left to right: Jerry Johnston, Gino Salazar, and Mike Beaufore
Middle Row: Fred SanMiguel, Frank Benevedes, and Gary Every
Back Row: Doug Brya (trainer), Tom Walling, John Jolly, Bill Brown, and Wayne Beaufore (coach)
When asked about the team name Wayne said,
“As I recall I think they started out in 1966 as the Clinton County Athletic club. But it was changed within the year to Clinton County Boys club, but everybody always called it the Clinton County Boxing Club. Before 1966 all the county boxers entered the Lansing Tournament unattached meaning they had no club representation. Eddie Schmidt got a committee together and started the club and had the American Legion to sponsor us along with local merchants and other organizations. At one time we had 12 men on the committee. The American legion always helped out financially before we were a registered club.”
Thank-you Wayne and Aggie Beaufore for your help.
