Ed Cox, Kurt’s Appliance Center TV service manager in 1972, explains features of RCA’s cut-away model showing RCA’s new XL-100 solid state chassis to Mrs. Ralph Wycoff, of St. Johns.

All tubes were eliminated in this newly developed set at RCA. All circuits are plug-in which permits most repairs to be made in the customer’s home. RCA’s confidence in this new set is shown by their offer to give the customer one year free labor service on any set featuring this new system.

What was new then is old technology today with the invention of micro chips.
