A Look Back

New Municipal Building
by Barry Bauer

This was the scene on the north west corner of Walker and Spring Sts. before 1939 when demolition started on these two buildings and construction begin on the new St. Johns Municipal Building.
There’s a partial view of the old American Legion building on the left, and the building on the right served as an office for justice of the peace, Carl Bunge.

While the demolition of the old American Legion building continued, the Bunge building, on the right, has already been razed.

This is how the Municipal Building looked after construction was completed.
