Welding and CAD training at Baker

Baker College of Owosso is offering practical workshops in December for enhancing technical skills.
“Introduction to AutoCAD 2010: Quick Tips” integrates brief lecture with hands-on experience to explore basic commands of AutoCAD 2010. Students will become familiar with program menus, drawing lines, drawing shapes, editing drawings, adding text to drawings, dimensioning drawings and printing. Participants must have basic blueprint reading skills and some computer experience. This workshop will be held on December 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Hands-on welding classes are also available in December. Students will benefit from “Fundamentals of Welding” by learning safety techniques for welding and developing basic skills through hands-on practice in a variety of techniques, including shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, torch cutting, and plasma cutting. This popular two-part workshop will be held on November 30 and December 2 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
In “Fundamentals of Stick Welding” students will learn safety practices while gaining skills in shielded metal arc welding, torch cutting, and plasma cutting through hands-on projects. Welding will be performed on mild steel-plate using E7018 and E7024 electrodes in a variety of weld positions. This two-part workshop is scheduled for December 7 and 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
