Holiday Programs and more
Our holiday programs will be on Thursday, December 5th, 6-8pm, Friday, December 6th, 6-8pm and Saturday, December 7th, 10-11:30 am. Caroling Kids and Musical Guests will perform at 6pm on Thursday evening, a holiday story will be read at 6 pm on Friday and Musical Guests will perform at 10am at the Saturday morning program. There will be stories from Santa, jingle bell music, reindeer and other winter games, holiday crafts, homemade cookies and pop for refreshments and of course a visit with Santa. Make sure you mark your calendar so you won’t miss the free holiday family fun! Children must be accompanied by adults. No registration is required for this program.
Tween Program
All ‘tweens are invited to a Prairie Christmas Monday, December 9 at 7pm. This free program for ‘tweens age 9-12 will offer a craft, refreshments, and a special visit from local author Peggy House who will read from her new book, “Prairie Anna.” Registration is required and begins on Monday, November 18.
Mitten Tree
Mitten Tree The library will begin our annual mitten drive starting Tuesday, November 12th and ending Monday, December 9th. Mittens and gloves must be new (home-made or store bought.) The collection is for all ages, adult or child. Items collected will be donated to charitable organizations. The greatest need is for mittens and gloves.
Adult Book Clubs
There is still time to read “Still Alice,” the November selection for the library’s adult book clubs. This is the story of Alice Howland, a celebrated Harvard professor, who at the height of her career, is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Both clubs will meet to discuss the book on Thursday, November 21. The first session will meet at the library at 12 pm, while the second session will continue to meet at Bruno’s in downtown St. Johns. Participants for the evening session should be over the age of 21. This will be the last meeting of our book clubs for this year. The selection for January’s meeting will be available at the library in mid-December.
Library Closure
The Library will close at 5:00pm on Wednesday Nov. 27th and be closed Nov. 28th, 29th and 30th for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout this closure.
