Bookaholics
The August selection of the Bookaholics book club is now available. We will be reading Homer Hickam’s memoir, Rocket Boys. This uniquely American memoir is a powerful story of coming of age at the dawn of the 1960s, of a mother’s love and a father’s fears, of a group of young men who dreamed of launching rockets into outer space . . . and who made those dreams come true.
The club will meet Thursday, August 21 at 12:00 pm at the library or at Bruno’s Bar at 7:30 pm. As the final film in our Adult Summer Movie Series, the library will also be screening October Sky, the movie based on Hickam’s memoir, on Tuesday, August 26 at 6:30 pm. All patrons are welcome to join us for the book club discussions or the film.
Family Movie Fridays
We will be ending our Family Movie Fridays series at the end of the summer, but before then stop by to check out Hoot on August 8 and Happy Feet on August 15. Both movies are rated PG and will start at 3:00 pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and are welcome to bring their own pillows or camp chairs. Refreshments will be available to purchase for a small fee.
