Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you to all the volunteers that helped with games, crafts and refreshments for our 3 holiday programs. A special thanks to Santa for taking time out of his very busy schedule to stop at the library and visit will all the kids. Thanks also to all who donated mittens, gloves, scarves and hats to our “Mitten Tree”. There were 191 items donated and they were passed on to the Baby Pantry, Basic Needs and Community Resources. Think of all the warmness out there because of your kindness. The library is very appreciative to have volunteers and patrons who share their talents and time with us throughout the year.

Get Connected @ Briggs
Registration is now open for Computer Basics, a free adult computer class that will be offered at the library. This leisurely-paced class is designed for new computer users with little to no experience, and will cover basic computer parts and terms, correct usage of the mouse and keyboard, and creating files and folders in Windows 7. The class will meet Wednesday mornings from 10-11am January 7-28.
Bookaholics
There is still time to read Wonder by R.J. Palacio, the January selection of the Bookaholics book clubs. In this powerful debut novel we meet Auggie Pullman, a child born with a jarring facial deformity who will be entering a mainstream school for the first time. The events that follow will challenge Auggie and his new classmates, and provide a subtle lesson on the meanings and possibilities of kindness. Copies of the book are now available at the library circulation desk. The clubs will meet January 15 at 12pm at the library and at 7:30pm at Bruno’s Bar in downtown St. Johns.
