Briggsflix
Next up for the Briggsflix Movie Club is Children of Men directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film takes place in 2027, where decades of human infertility have left society on the brink of collapse, and a civil servant must help a refugee escape the chaos. The movie will screen for free on Thursday, March 26 at 6:30pm. Rated R, 109 minutes.
Bookaholics
There is still time to pick up your copy of The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta. Three years ago, the little town of Mapleton witnessed the Sudden Departure, the still unexplained disappearance of many of its citizens. Through the prism of a single family, Perrotta creates a powerful and deeply moving story about regular people struggling to hold onto a belief in their futures. Copies of the book are now available. The clubs will meet on Thursday, March 19 at noon at the library, or at 8:00pm at Bruno’s Bar. Both meetings are open and new members are always welcome.
