Lapsit Storytime and more
The Library will begin taking registration for the winter session of Lapsit Storytime on Friday January 21st. Interested parties can chose from the Friday morning session, February 18 – March 25 from 10:00-10:30 am or the Monday evening session, February 28 – March 28 from 6:30-7:00 pm. Note the Monday evening session starts a week later due to the fact that the Library is closed on Feb. 21st for the Presidents Day Holiday. Sessions are designed for children ages 12 to 24 months in age with a participating adult. The program focuses on literacy development through music, tactile activities, fingerplays, and of course stories. Jr. Readers
Registration for the Saturday February 26th program from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm opens Friday January 28th. The program is designed for youth ages 7-9. The title for the session will be announced soon and will be available for pick up at the Library desk. The program will include book discussion, a game, a craft and a snack.
Thank You
A warm thank you to all the people who donated 145 sets of mittens, 84 hats and 9 scarves to the Library Mitten Tree! The new and beautifully home-made knit items were given to RAVE, Baby Pantry, Family Independence Agency and St. Vincent De Paul. Your generosity will be appreciated by many.
Library Closures:
The Library will be closed Monday January 17th in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday. The Library will also be closed on Tuesday January 25th and Wednesday January 26th for staff training on updated software that manages the collection and patron databases. The Drop Box on the Library porch will be available for all returns throughout these closures.
Income Tax Info
Briggs Public Library will once again be serving as a tax form distribution site. Federal Forms will be available beginning January 3, 2011. Michigan Forms will be distributed in February 2011 or as soon as received. You can go to the IRS website for Federal Income Tax information http://www.irs.gov/ to print forms yourself. Printing forms at the Library costs $0.25 per page. The Michigan Department of Treasury tax site is http://www.michigan.gov/taxes and they will post Michigan Income and Business Tax forms with current information as soon as they are available. Please remember that Library Staff can help you find the forms you request, but we are not tax professionals. Please consult with your business or tax advisor for more detailed information.
