Calling All World Travelers
Briggs Public Library will launch summer reading program:
Readers of all ages will travel the globe this summer as Briggs Public Library presents “One World, Many Stories” during their summer reading program.
Children will explore the wonders of the world through stories, crafts, music, dance, and other activities.
The 2011 Summer Reading Program begins on Monday, June 6th and is open to babies through adults, with programs, prize drawings, guessing contests, and story hours. Registration for Lapsit (12-24 months), Toddler (ages 2&3), Pre-Reader (ages 4,5 & 6), and Prime-Time (ages 3,4 & 5) story-times begins on Tuesday, May 10th. Junior Reader (ages 7-9)registration begins on Monday, May 23rd, Chapter Chatter (ages 6,7 &8) registration begins on Monday, June 27th and Tween Program (ages 9-12)registration begins June 28) Our Summer Finale “Musical Folktales” will be on Thursday, July 21st 7- 8 p.m. All programs and storytimes are free of charge.

Lets spend the summer learning about the world and the stories we share!
The National Library Week Photo Contest Winner was entered by Shirley Ries. The picture was of her daughter, Gabrielle. Her photo generated $32.99 of our grand total of $111.67. The ballot and registration money will go towards children’s programming. Thanks to those who registered their “Get Caught Reading” photos and everybody who voted with pennies to dollars.
Library Closures
The Library will be Saturday May 28th and Monday May 30th in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout this closure.
Thanks to a donation by the Briggs Library Friends, the Library has new Ellison dies. The new dies include a set of 4 inch lower case letters, a tractor, a cross, a hammer, a gecko, a tyrannosaurus, cherries, a treble clef, a mitten, a boxcar, a hotdog, a tent, a game board, a Christmas wreath, a hanging 3-D starburst, a snow globe, a card, quarter, half and whole notes die, a bat, ball and glove die, a spring combo die, summer combo die and school combo die.
These new dies along with the rest for the Library’s collection are available for in house public use with the Library’s die cutting machine. Paper is not provided. Stop at the Library desk for more information or to use the machine and dies.
