Builders Club students raise funds

Walk for Warmth
It’s still nearly a month away, but the February 25th Walk for Warmth received a shot in the pocket recently when middle school members of the Builders Club conducted a bake sale to bring awareness and funds to the annual event. Inventory for the sale was contributed by teachers, aides, Builders Club members and Kiwanians.

According to a statement by Pauline Baert, coordinator of Clinton County Services Center, the funds from the bake sale will be added to pledges collected by walkers raising alertness to the plight of heatless households.
While the walk is the focal point, members of the Builders Club took some of the recognition recently by turning a table of baked goodies into $160.00 cash for the benefit of Walk for Warmth. The Builders Club, which is a service group of middle school students coordinated by St. Johns Public Schools and the local Kiwanis Club, typically sponsors good will projects of similar nature. Students who join the club are taught the qualities of leadership, community service and assistance to others.
In extending appreciation to the students, Ms Baert added that persons interested in participating in the effort may learn details regarding sign up or pledge solicitation by calling her at 989 224-6702.
