Center for Women’s HealthCare in Carson City
If it hasn’t yet caught your eye, there has been a noticeable flurry of construction activity just north of Carson City Hospital on M-57.
The Center for Women’s HealthCare (CFWHC), currently located on the Carson City Hospital campus at 401 E. Elm St. in Carson City, plans to move to its new home across the street this spring. A grand opening event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4, 2011, to honor all of the mothers and generations in the local community who have received health care through CFWHC over the years.
The building planning and creation process have been underway since 2005, with the groundbreaking ceremony taking place in June 2010.
“CFWHC has worked very hard to create a better health-care facility for our patients,” said Dr. Michelle Becher, an OB-GYN and a co-owner of the independent CFWHC practice. “All of us that work here together at CFWHC have put endless hours into designing a place, a home, to better serve – the reason we all come to work each day – our patients.”
Carson City Hospital owns the current building in which CFWHC serves patients, and is exploring options for new uses of the facility.
Dr. Becher pointed out the strong relationship with CFWHC, this construction project, and Carson City-Crystal (CC-C) Area Schools. Her husband, Mark Brown, is the owner of the new building, and is a CC-C graduate. Dr. Becher is also a graduate of CC-C. Current CFWHC staff who are also graduates of CC-C include Robin Shepler, Ronda McGinn, Renee Ewalt, Jennifer Becher, Tiffany Holey, Genevieve Evans, and Elizabeth Horricks. In fact, almost everyone involved intimately with the project is a CC-C graduate, including Carson City Hospital Public Relations Manager Jennifer Churchill (who graduated the same year as Dr. Becher), the architect and designer of the building Lisa Keiffer-West, and employees of Bill McAlvey Builders, LLC. David McAlvey of Bill McAlvey Builders was actually Keiffer-West’s drafting teacher at CC-C during her high school years.
“We are a true family here, and the new building will provide a modern, well-planned health-care home for our patients,” said Dr. Becher. “We can’t wait for this new phase of our relationship with the community, and hope everyone puts May 4 on their calendar to come see this beautiful new building for themselves.”
CFWHC also has offices in Greenville, Ionia and Ithaca. The professional medical staff at CFWHC includes Dr. Michelle Becher, Dr. Jennifer Carman, Dr. Erin LeGrand, Dr. Carol Slomski, and Jan Russell, O.G.N.P.
