At Carson City Hospital
Mark your calendars for the third Wednesday of each month in 2011! For the third consecutive year, Carson City Hospital (CCH) offers its monthly Brown Bag Lunch Series.
Each month, CCH hosts a new, exciting speaker with topics ranging from inspirational and educational to important health-care advice. The Brown Bag Lunch Series takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Conference Room A in the hospital. Bring a lunch or enjoy complimentary coffee, tea and treats! No registration is necessary and everyone is welcome.
The Brown Bag session scheduled for Wednesday, April 20, is “Classic Film 102” with Jennifer Churchill, M.A. Come to this updated version of Jennifer’s popular “Classic Film 101” presentation, featuring more examples and film clips from the past.
Travel through time to witness examples of the first moving images photographed by a contraption called the Phenakistoscope, explore the silent films of the early 1900s, and see representative film clips from each decade from 1920 to the present. Film techniques developed by early pioneers are taken for granted today; learn about how these techniques were invented out of necessity and creativity.
You’ll also learn all of the great, hidden places to see classic films on the big screen in the local region! Knowing its history can give us a deeper appreciation of film. Jennifer is the Marketing Director at Carson City Hospital, an aspiring screenwriter, film history buff, and will be a V.I.P. attendee at the 2nd annual Turner Classic Movies Classic Film Festival in Hollywood April 27-May 1.
