Begins Tuesday, February 26
Immigration reform has been much in the news lately. First United Methodist Church, 200 E. State St., St. Johns, has decided to explore the issue from a Christian perspective.
All are invited to the church on Tuesday, February 26 at 7:30 pm, to watch a short video on the life of one immigrant family in Michigan. Small group discussions on the ways in which the current immigration policies affect families in Michigan will follow. Refreshments will be provided.
On March 22 the movie, Under the Same Moon/La Misma Luna, will be shown. This movie highlights the problem of a mother who has come to the United States from Mexico and her son, who journeys north to find her. A brief time of discussion will follow. Popcorn and snacks provided. Admission is free and all are welcome.
On June 16 at 10:50 am, an eight-week study, Immigration and the Bible will begin. Study groups will meet on Sundays and at other times during the week.
Times and dates will be advertised in May. If you are interested you can call the church office at 224-6859 to be put on a call-back list. You can also check the church’s website for further information – firstumc-stjohnsmi.com.
