Cinco de Mayo Service

Sunday, May 5
On Sunday, May 5 at 9:30 a.m. the First United Methodist Church will hold a bilingual worship service in English and Spanish in honor of its English as a Second Language students. There will be a potluck and Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) party following that will begin at noon. Everyone is invited to attend. A nursery will be provided.
May 5th is the day that commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862, the first time the Mexican Army defeated a foreign power. The battle was between the French and Mexican armies. In our time, it has become a time to celebrate Mexican culture for those living in the US.
The church has offered English as a Second Language classes for more than five years.
If you are interested or know someone who is interested in learning English, call the church office at 989-224-6859 for more details.
