Begins January 21
The City of Saint Johns is participating in the Community Partners in Health’s 2012 Winter Warm-Up, beginning January 21 and ending March 10, 2012.
The kick-off begins Saturday January 21, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Lansing Mall with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Community Challenge; a contest this year between 9 greater Lansing communities.
Teams from each community compete by signing up members to log minutes or miles of physical activity. BCBSM is awarding grants to all participating teams – with larger amounts going to those communities with the most logged miles per person. These grants will be used to support public health and wellness projects in each community.
The Community Partner’s in Health Winter Warm-Up is an entirely free program offering resources to develop positive daily lifestyle habits. The eight-week program provides tips, information and local support to participants.
Join us at the Lansing Mall on January 21 at 9 a.m. for kick-off activities: health screenings, health and wellness displays, information about incentive prizes and more. After you signup on-site or online, log your miles each day or at the end of the week online and help St. Johns win the challenge!
To register for the Blue’s Community Challenge, sign up at the CPH website www.cphlansing.com or on-site at the Lansing Mall on Saturday mornings. You can also visit the City of Saint Johns Recreation website page for a link to the CPH page.
In addition to the kick-off event and weekly walks, the final celebration festivities will be held at the Lansing Mall in March to announce the winners of the Blues’ Community Challenge grants and recognize individual achievements.
