City of St. Johns Recreation Department
The City of St. Johns Recreation Department, in conjunction with St. Johns PKSA (Professional Karate Schools of America), is offering a Barracuda Women’s Self Defense Class. The hour and half class will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 11:00 am – 1:00 p.m. The Phase 1 — EZ Defense “Stand Your Ground” is an introduction course in Women’s self-defense. The student will be taught prevention and evasion tactics and basic self-defense techniques.
The moves that are taught are extremely effective and have been tried and tested against men of all sizes and abilities. We will introduce the use of pressure point manipulation and low-level stun techniques. We will demonstrate the self-defense weapon that will be utilized in Phase 2 of this program.
This class is great if you are going off to college and you have to walk to your car at night or if you want to defend yourself should you need to.
Registrations for the class can be picked up at the City Offices, located in the Clinton County Courthouse or online at www.cityofsaintjohnsmi.com. Cost for the class is $40.00 for City of St. Johns Residents and $45 for non-City of St. Johns Residents.
Having a St. Johns mailing address does not always qualify as a City Resident. To qualify for they City Resident rate you must pay taxes to the City of St. Johns. For additional information please contact the recreation department at 224-8944 ext 227.
Class will be taught at the PKSA at 320 N. Clinton Ave. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Light refreshments will be served after training.
