June 20
Warm, wonderful and totally talented – that’s the magic of singer/songwriter, Kitty Donohoe.
The award-winning musician brings her rich, musical style to the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell June 20 in the weekly Concert in the Park series. Show time is 7 p.m. at the beautiful outdoor venue; no admission charge.
Appreciative fans can expect to hear selections from Donohoe’s CDs, including Northern Voices and This Road Tonight, that are filled with songs about life and love and allow her Irish and American heritage to shine through. Donohoe’s expertise on guitar, cittern, keyboard – and some unique Celtic instruments – will also delight listeners.
Multi-instrumentalist, David Mosher, will join Donohoe on stage, performing music of the U.S. and British Isles.
Donohoe is also promoting her Irish American Project that will include a CD and video featuring traditional music and her original compositions – a celebration of song for the more than 40 million Irish Americans in the United States.
“Since my first album in 1987, I’ve incorporated the sounds of the traditional instruments I love into my original songs and tunes,” Donohoe says. “When I wrote my Michigan Emmy-winning song “There Are No Words” on 9/11, I immediately knew I wanted to have the haunting sound of pipes in the recording. I’ve always known someday I’d do a CD of decidedly Irish music, and this is the year to make it a reality.”
