Capital Area Community Services has sponsored Walk for Warmth as a volunteer, community effort to assist low-income families with heat-related utility bills for the past 22 years. On Saturday, February 25th, the streets of Saint Johns were filled with the excitement of forty-two walkers, raising money for this cause.

The participants collected $2089 in pledges for walking the three mile course around town. In addition, the St. Johns Lioness Club donated the proceeds of their fundraiser to the Walk for Warmth, which amounted to $2446.75. All of these donations will stay in Clinton County and will be used to assist eligible households.
Many of the participants were middle school students from St. Johns who are members of the Kiwanis Builders Club. They were joined by veteran walkers Darryl Schmitz, Dan Drolett, and Chris Wright, who have walked in the event more than a dozen times each. Also walking in the group were Dr. Donald Porter, Sparrow Clinton Hospital, and Dave Hunt, Big Boy Restaurant.
