From former State Rep. Paul Opsommer
Clinton County attorney Shannon Schlegel has announced another key endorsement from former State Representative Paul Opsommer in her candidacy for Judge of 65A District Court in Clinton County.
“I have had the opportunity to know and work with Shannon Schlegel for several years and strongly feel that she has the strength and professional standards to be an excellent judge,” stated former State Representative Paul Opsommer. This endorsement follows a recent endorsement by current State Representative Tom and Jenell Leonard.

Schlegel has owned her private practice law firm for over 12 years. For the last 10 years, her office has been in DeWitt. Schlegel has represented clients for every type of case that is handled in District Court; both civil and criminal. Her clients have included Plaintiffs and Defendants, and have ranged from individuals to government, and local businesses. Her law practice has served clients in Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Livingston, Shiawassee and Wayne Counties. Areas of practice include Appellate, Child Welfare, Contract/Civil Litigation, Criminal Law, Estate Planning, Family Law and Small Business.
“I am truly honored to be supported by former State Representative Paul Opsommer. He has served our community for many years, and his support means a great deal to me,” commented Shannon Schlegel.
Community and public service is not something new for Shannon Schlegel as she is very involved with local government, legal associations, and civic groups. She currently Chairs the Clinton County Planning Commission, is an active member of the St. Johns Kiwanis, and is President of the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce.
Public Act 23 of 2013 preserved a 65A District Court judgeship that was slated for elimination in state law, which created the vacancy on the bench in Clinton County.
