The Friends of the Maple River will hold their bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday September 16th at Sleepy Hollow State Park. The meeting will start at 6:00 PM and will be held in the South swimming beach pavilion. The swimming beach is near the north end of the lake. The park is located on Price Road east of highway US-127. Follow the State Park signs.
The program will include a presentation by Dale Ladouceur who is with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. His topic will be rural septic systems and their potential impact on the waters of the Maple River. A grant funded study by the Clinton Conservation District has found fecal Coliform present in several locations on the Maple River and its tributaries. A business session will follow.
Anyone who is interested in the Maple River and its watershed are invited to attend the meeting.
