Friends of the Maple River – Wednesday May 20
The Friends of the Maple River will hold their bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday May 20th in the Commissioners Room in the Clinton County Courthouse located at 100 East State Street(M-21). There is parking on the south side of the Courthouse and use the south entrance to the building. The meeting will start at 7:00PM.
Anyone interested in the future and sound management of the natural resources of the river and watershed are welcome to attend. The featured speaker will be Mr. Chad Fedewa who is a wildlife Biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He will discuss the management of wildlife resources and their habitats on DNR administered public lands within the Maple River watershed.
Some of the topics he will detail are: the wetlands management program on the Maple River State Game Area;the cooperative grasslands pheasant restoration program; the invasive non native plant species control program, and their non-game wildlife programs on state owned lands.
If you are interested in the plants, birds, and animals found in the Maple River watershed,and their management for your benafit, you won’t want to miss Mr. Fedewa’a presentation.
A business meeting will follow Mr. Fedewa’a presentation. It will include the annual election of officers, report of the recent annual river trash clean-up day, an update on the progress of the Upper Maple River Management Plan, and other watershed related activities.
