Foundation seeks name of $1,000 Anonymous Donor

“From whence this surprising windfall?” That’s the question John Sirrine, left, and Dale Abraham ponder over an anonymously received check for $1,000.00, payable to the Briggs Public Library Foundation.

When the Briggs Public Library Foundation sends out its annual appeal this year, it will already be $1,000 ahead thanks to an anonymous donor.
“It was the strangest check I’ve ever seen,” commented Foundation treasurer Dale Abraham, who went on to explain that the check bore no clear identification of the donor’s name. The designation of the issuing bank was very evident, but the name of the personal account from which the money was drawn lacked identification. “While we are most grateful for the gift,” Abraham said, “we’re unable to express our appreciation for the thoughtfulness.”
According to Foundation officers, gifts have been received in the past by donors requesting anonymity. In those circumstances donors have received acknowledgements for their generosity. “That’s what we’re trying to do here,” explained Abraham. “We hope that the donor will learn that we have received the check then contact us so that we may properly express our appreciation.”
If you are the donor and are learning for the first time why you’ve never received a thank you note, complete the cycle by contacting Abraham or Foundation President John Sirrine, providing your name and brief details confirming the name of the issuing bank. Abraham can be reached at Abraham & Gaffney, P.C., 989 224-6836. Sirrine may be contact at Sirrine & Associates, 989 224-2853.
