St. Johns Kiwanis members continued an annual event recently with their spouses and family members and friends by treating 25 youngsters to an evening of fun, food and Christmas shopping. The evening began with a pizza dinner provided by Little Caesars in an area of K-Mart set aside by staff.
Along with dinner each child received a Little Caesars coupon, and then joined in singing songs of the season before being turned loose in the store with up to $35.00 to spend compliments of Kiwanis club.
“Perhaps this is the most successful Christmas shopping event we’ve sponsored,” commented Roberta O’Connor, co-chair of the program. “For the first time in all the years Kiwanis has held this project, we numbered 25 youngsters participating. Our appreciation is extended to Pauline Baert and her staff at CCAS for assisting in the selection process. The children have an exciting time.”
Following the activities, Ms O’Connor and co-chair Mike Ziegler, thanked parents of the children who participated in the shopping spree and presented each of them with a $100.00 Walmart gift card.
