With new officers, directors
Following an annual tradition, members of St. Johns Kiwanis Club inducted officers and directors recently during installation ceremonies at The Emerald that included recognition of exceptional service to the club during the past year.
Leading the list of officer inductees was Paul Opsommer who will serve the ’14-’15 Kiwanis year as president. He will be joined by Secretary Karen Crosby, Treasurer Jan Havlik and President Elect Shannon Schlegel.
Other officers and board members included Curt Keck, Graham Filler, Kim Brzozowski, Joyce Crosby and Sharon Bassette.
Special mention was made during the ceremony of service to Kiwanis by Rod Fuller and Jim Gunther, both of whom have been members since the club’s founding. Fuller, beyond immediate club activities, has served as Michigan Kiwanis Lt. Governor. Gunther, meanwhile, has served as treasurer for the past 25 years.

In an annual acknowledgement for service, tribute was given to Marilyn Thelen and Graham Filler by being named co-Kiwanian of The Year. Ms. Thelen is a long time Kiwanian who has participated actively in a variety of projects. Filler, a relatively new comer, has sparked initiatives in club programs through his enthusiastic involvement and leadership.
