Thank you for recent event
We would like to say thank you to everyone who attended, organized, donated and in any way participated in the Don Boak Benefit Cruise-In on September 28. It was a truly amazing event that left us humbled, speechless and in awe; the people, the cars, the fund-raising, the weather, everything was perfect.
An extra special thank you to Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizer, B&L Motorsports, the Bancroft families; (Troy, Jill, Nick, Albert, Garrett), numerous volunteers, everyone who generously donated and purchased items for the silent auction and raffles, Natalie Hafner, Rhiann Martens, the Hafner family and everyone who donated bake goods and helped with the bake sale, Blaine Stevens, Roger Nobach, Rich Chapko and Larry Buttons for organizing this event and most of all for your never ending generosity and friendship.
Words cannot express how much we appreciate and are truly grateful for the outpouring of kindness, generosity and support of the St. Johns community, our friends and family.

Support for Independent candidate Trebesh
A Gallup Poll conducted earlier this year found that 42% of voters reject being identified as either Democrat or Republican, and instead prefer to be known as an Independent. Most everyone professes to be sick and tired of both Republicans and Democrats, yet voters rarely stray outside of those two parties when casting their vote, and will mark their ballot for the “lesser of two evils” in the upcoming election. Not me.
This November, in the 93rd District race for State Representative, I will not vote for the Democrat or the Republican. I will mark my ballot for the Independent candidate Mike Trebesh.
It’s a three-way race. Let’s send a message to Democrats and Republicans this November 4th, and elect an Independent.
By winning over a third of the votes cast, Mr. Trebesh will represent Clinton and southern Gratiot County in the Michigan Legislature.
If either the Democrats or Republicans want Mike’s support on a piece of legislation, they will have to ask for and earn it. As a legislator, isn’t that better than being told how to vote by your party?
David J. Smith
St. Johns

Here is how our current representative, Tom Leonard, won his Republican primary in 2012:
Votes for Michael Trebesh and Kevin Kirk: 7,175
Votes for Tom Leonard: 4,231
Leonard won with the most votes, though far from the majority of votes.
Kevin Kirk was encouraged by party insiders to run for office with the assurance that many influential party leaders would endorse him. What actually happened is that the party knew Mike Trebesh – an
independent-thinking conservative candidate that they couldn’t control – was going to run, so they needed another candidate to dilute the Trebesh votes, paving the way for the candidate they had long been
grooming for the job. To guarantee victory, a mailer was sent out by the Great Lakes Education Project, a pro-Leonard PAC, less than a week before the primary, depicting Trebesh’s face on Mount Rushmore
alongside Governor Granholm’s, President Obama’s and Representative Pelosi’s, accusing him of being in the back pocket of special interests – a ridiculous accusation.
I am appealing to all Trebesh, Kirk and Napier voters to help take back our seat in the Michigan House of Representatives (Clinton and Gratiot counties) on Tuesday, November 4th. Vote for the Person, not
the party. We Can, and we Will restore Our voice in Lansing.

Vote for Mike Clarizio
If you live in Clinton County the most important question on the ballot this election is whom to select as our new District Court Judge. Mike Clarizio is the clear choice.
Twenty three years ago I hired Mike to be an assistant Prosecutor because I knew he was the best person to represent crime victims in Clinton County Courts. Mike has spent those twenty three years working tirelessly to make Clinton County a safe place to live and raise our families. He has dedicated his career to achieving Justice by speaking for victims who could not speak for themselves.
Now, as he runs for District Court Judge, he is the only candidate with the experience and the qualifications to continue that fight as our new Judge. That is why the Law Enforcement community is supporting him; and that is why I urge you to vote for Mike Clarizio for District Judge.
Charles Sherman
Prosecuting Attorney
Clinton County

It has been a pleasure to work with Mike Clarizio over the years on a variety of civic projects that have benefitted residents across Clinton County, and it is a privilege to support him as our county’s next 65A District Court Judge.
Mike’s passion for helping others has been demonstrated repeatedly in his volunteer service with endeavors involving the St. Johns Rotary Club, Big-Brothers-Big Sisters, DeWitt Lions Breakfast Club, St. Vincent dePaul, Clinton County American Cancer Society and other many organizations.
Mike’s commitment to the legal well-being of all county citizens is evident in his over 23 years of experience as a Clinton County Assistant Prosecutor. As 65A District Court Judge, Mike will continue to serve area residents in a fair and just manner.
Please join me in voting for Mike Clarizio on Nov. 4.

I first became acquainted with Mike during a murder case in 1999. The family was devastated with their loss and overwhelmed with the court system, but as the prosecutor handling this case, the “victims” were treated with fairness, respect, dignity, Mike listened to the family, their concerns and his compassion with the family was tremendous. This is just one of the many cases.
Mike has handled. With his 23 years of commitment to Clinton County, I believe as next District Court Judge, Mike Clarizio is the best qualified person to keep the citizens safe, no question about it.
Anita Rositas
Victim/Witness Coordinator
Clinton County

With over 23 years of courtroom experience handling over 8,000 criminal and/or civil matters, Michael Clarizio has devoted his entire legal career to serving and protecting the citizens of Clinton County. Mike is an experienced prosecutor.
As a legal professional, Mike treated us with dignity and respect as we navigated the legal process after being a victim of crime. He never tired of answering our questions and hearing our concerns. We could not have been in better hands. Mike is an advocate for victims.
As a community volunteer, Mike has shared his time and talents as a youth soccer coach, member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the American Cancer Society, among others. We have joined forces with Mike in the St. Johns Rotary Club to help create a better community. Mike is a community leader.
Please join us in supporting Michael Clarizio for Clinton County District Court Judge.

For more than twenty years I had the privilege to work alongside Mike Clarizio as an assistant prosecutor for Clinton County. From the moment he announced his candidacy for 65th District Court Mike has had my complete support. Mike’s common sense and his fair handling of cases as a prosecutor is exemplary. He listens and keeps an open mind. He determines facts before making decisions, and acts with courage to protect the innocent. Those character traits are absolutely essential in a judge, and I know firsthand that Mike personifies those attributes.
He and his family are part of the fabric of Clinton County, and he is committed to seeing that all of us continue to enjoy a great place to live, a safe place to raise children, a place we proudly call our home. Men like Mike, and communities like ours, are getting harder and harder to find. This election is extremely important.
Clinton County is a place we often take for granted, but we shouldn’t. Our District Court judge is the people’s judge, and Mike will carry that torch with dignity and honor, I assure you. He has my 100% endorsement. Vote for Michael Clarizio November 4.

Vote for Shannon Schlegel
We have the privilege and responsibility to vote in our country on Tuesday, November 4th. On that day, our support and vote for 65A District Judge will be for Shannon Schlegel. Knowing Shannon as a faith-driven, principled person, we wholly believe that she is the right person for the job.
Shannon Schlegel has sought the position of 65A District Judge not for selfish-ambition or gain, but because she feels it is the right thing to do in order to better serve the community in which she lives and raises her family.
We have witnessed first hand her diligence and the endless hours she has sacrificed while seeking this position.
Certainly Shannon is dedicated to the truth from Psalms 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” We have personally observed this belief lived out in the way she interacts with her family and with the community where she so respectfully desires to serve. This is a vital quality for a judge serving on the bench.
Indeed, Shannon Schlegel is an intelligent, well-thought out person who will seek to do the right thing. Knowing her as a person with strong values, she is exceedingly worthy of our vote. We ask other voters to give Shannon Schlegel their support as they vote for her as 65A District Judge on November 4th.

I support Shannon Schlegel for Clinton County 65A District Court Judge. Shannon is Chair of the Clinton County Planning Commission, and in that position has demonstrated an excellent ability to be fair, yet firm, in allowing all involved in the various cases to be heard. In her capacity as an attorney with her own law firm, Shannon has been very successful because of her knowledge of the law and its application. She will carry this expertise to the Bench, hearing each case on its merits and applying the law correctly.
Shannon is an honest and caring person of upmost integrity and will use those qualities to serve us all as an excellent District Judge. Please join me in voting for Shannon as our next Clinton County 65A District Court Judge.
Kam Washburn
Clinton County Commissioner Elsie, MI

When I go to the polls to vote in the November General Election, I will be casting my vote for Shannon Schlegel for 65A District Court Judge and I urge you to do the same.
Shannon has shown integrity and a strong commitment to our community for many years. She has owned her own private practice law firm for nearly thirteen years, which has given her a world of experience in District Court. She also has experience as a defense attorney, as well as being a Special Prosecuting Attorney for the Department of Human Services and has always treated each case individually and fairly. I feel that all of these experiences have provided Shannon with the knowledge of the law to make her a great District Court Judge.
Please join me in supporting and voting for Shannon Schlegel for 65A District Court Judge on November 4, 2014.

On Nov. 4th, we’ll choose our next judge for 65A District Court in Clinton County.
Shannon Schlegel possesses the necessary experience in all areas covered under district court. She’s also been an active volunteer in her community–long before she ever decided to run for the judgeship, and if she knocked on your door this past winter, you already know what a hard worker she is and that she’s truly committed. It’s a strong foundation, but it’s not the only reason to vote for Shannon Schlegel.
A judge needs to be impartial in her application of the law. Shannon is a woman of great integrity. Her desire to serve as our next district court judge is not motivated by a desire for position or power. Shannon is running to SERVE the public, and that is a rare thing these days.
If you are looking for someone who leads by example, who will be impartial, committed and approach the bench every day as a true Servant-Leader, then I ask you to join me by electing Shannon Schlegel for 65A District Court Judge.
Maria Ostrander
DeWitt, MI

It’s important that we elect persons of character who are dedicated to serving the public to the position of judge — persons who understand not only the law, but also the impact that the courts have on our lives and activities. Persons who understand the limited role that judges play in our system – persons who will apply the law and uphold justice. Shannon Schlegel has served our communities in Clinton County as a member of local and county boards and commissions and as a leader of various community groups. She has built and operated a small business.
Shannon is a mother and understands the challenges parents face in raising children. Shannon is a person of faith who cares about others. Shannon is an accomplished lawyer that has represented clients in cases before courts across mid-Michigan. As I have outlined, Shannon has had life experiences that have built her character and that will positively impact her ability to serve as judge.
For these reasons I support Shannon and ask you to support Shannon and her candidacy for the Clinton County District Court on November 4, 2014.
Chris LaGrand
DeWitt, MI

My support for Shannon Schlegel for the 65A District Court is based upon observations for the many years we shared office space for our law practice. I have personal knowledge of her professional interaction with Judges, Clients and Members of the Bar.
I do not hesitate to say Ms. Schlegel has the requisite experience for the Judicial position, and the character,
integrity and dignity to administer justice without personal preferences, or political and social influences. The Judiciary has the duty to serve people by making courts accessible, which includes having the best Candidates for Judges. Ms. Schlegel is the best candidate. She demonstrates respect toward Judges, Court Assistants, her Clients and other Attorneys. She gives generously of her time and energy for her community.
Shannon’s knowledge of Michigan Laws, and the duty and responsibility of Judges to respect those laws, insure the continued integrity of the 65A District Court that all individuals who will appear before her deserve.
I am involved in Shannon’s campaign and have observed her activities to be courteous and respectful without initiation of improprieties or disrespect toward other candidates. Ms. Schlegel will take these same qualities to the 65A District Court.

I am supporting Shannon Schlegel for 65th District Court Judge and I hope you will consider doing the same. Voting is a privilege and one that should be taken seriously. The people we elect are supposed to be representatives of the people, for the people, and I believe Shannon is of this stature.
Shannon has experience and expertise throughout the court system and is a true advocate for the people of this county. As a business owner, she can appreciate the struggle one faces. As a mother and wife, she understands the challenges facing families today. As a successful lawyer, she realizes the importance court decisions have on everyone, decisions that should be based on the law and not politics or emotion.
If you don’t know Shannon take a few minutes to get to know her, I am sure you will quickly agree she is the best choice for 65th District Court Judge.
