Invitations en-route for Library Foundation Event

Tuesday April 24
If you’re into lighthouses, lakes lore or great lakes ghost stories, you’re in for a treat during the Briggs Public Library Foundation 7th annual Honors and Authors Night, Tuesday April 24 at the Emerald Golf Course.
During the March monthly meeting of the board of directors, President John Sirrine confirmed that maritime historian Frederick Stonehouse will be the featured speaker.
Judging from advance publicity, Mr. Stonehouse, a lecturer, writer and teacher, is a walking encyclopedia of all things great lakes. He has authored over thirty books including regional best selling “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” and “Great Lakes Lighthouse Tales.”
Other works include curiosity whetting titles such as “Haunted Lakes,” Great Lakes Maritime Ghost Stores,” and “Superstitions and Sea Serpents.” Stonehouse’s efforts cater also to youngsters as represented by his “Final Voyage,” an initial great lakes shipwreck book for children.
Full details and specific topics of Mr. Stonhouse’s presentation will be completed in early April, but it’s certain his appearance will offer entertainment, information and a delightful look at the great lakes that surround our state.
As in the past, the annual event will include complimentary generous hors d’oeuvres and beverages for the contribution of $50.00 per guest, accepted at the door or in advance by mail. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. Sirrine may be contacted, 989 224-2853 jsirrine@sirrineandassociates.com for tickets or information.
