Open to K-12 Students
Dr. Emmett Binkert, struck by the beauty of the St. Mary Church steeple, chose Carson City to practice medicine. In 1936, he started Carson City Hospital in what was then his home.
In 2011, Carson City Hospital will be celebrating 75 years of serving the health-care needs of the community. As part of the celebration and to encourage participation from local students, the hospital is sponsoring a 75th Anniversary Logo Design Contest, open too K-12 students in the hospital’s service area. The deadline to submit a design is November 29, 2010.
“It’s so fascinating to think back on Dr. Binkert having a vision for this hospital, and to look at its humble beginnings in small home compared to the state-of-the-art health-care facility we have today,” said Jennifer Churchill, Carson City Hospital’s Public Relations Manager. “I think Dr. Binkert would be proud.”
The logo design submissions will be displayed in a public area of the hospital, and the winning design will be seen by the whole community in local newspapers and possibly on billboards, as well. The designer of the winning logo will receive a gift card for $100, as well as publicity in local media for their accomplishment.
The theme for the 75th anniversary celebration is “Caring for Generations,” and the contest is open to any student, K-12, in a public or private school in the Carson City Hospital service area, which includes portions of Clinton, Gratiot, Ionia and Montcalm counties. The design should incorporate the text “75 years,” or “since 1936” or “1936-2011” or some variation of this text.
