Rehearsals fine tune Magnolias characters

Opening night, Thursday March 8
Already it’s March, and the first full week brings with it the opening of Homegrown Productions’ presentation of “Steel Magnolias,” a comedy-drama, that according to local director Tom Webb, may have the audience erupting in laughter or crying in alternate spurts.
The play opens Thursday evening March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Wilson Center, with continued runs at the same time and location Friday and Saturday and a Sunday matinee March 11 at 2 p.m. The schedule winds up the following weekend with presentations on Saturday March 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday March 18 at 2 p.m.

“The past five weeks have sped along,” commented Webb in discussing the time and effort put forth by members of the cast. “The ladies have been committed, it seems, and as we approach opening, their efforts are reflected. I’m very pleased and know the audiences will appreciate the results of their dedication.”
The story line of the play is fairly well known – a group of southern belles who deal with a countless complex relationships, situations and emotions. Various roles will be played by Susan DeRosa, Amanda Garner, Sandra Thomasson, Marci Balog, Beth Webb and Bev Gross. Susan DeRosa and Beth Webb are the originators of Homegrown Productions.
No advance ticket sales will be available; however ticket reservations may be made by calling the Clinton County Arts Council Gallery, 224-2429 or Tom Webb at 224-8982. Reserved tickets may be called for at the door.
Admission is $10.00 per person. All proceeds will be directed to the ongoing restoration of the auditorium at the Wilson Center.
