Groups to hold joint meeting

Tuesday December 10th
On Tuesday December 10th, the Friends of The Maple River will join other Mid Michigan river and watershed friends groups at a joint meeting hosted by the Middle Grand River Organization of Watersheds (MGROW).
The meeting will be held the Tri County Planning Commission Office that is located at 3135 Pine Tree Road #2c, Lansing, Michigan. The office is located Northwest of the US-127 and I-96 interchange. To get there, take US 127 southbound from Lansing. and exit the expressway at Exit #11 (Jolly road exit). At 0.4 mile turn right onto Dunkel road. Follow Dunkel Road west and south until it intersects with Jolly Road. Turn left onto Jolly Road and go east 0.8 mile to Pine Tree Road. Turn right onto Pine tree road and go south for 0.8 mile to the Tri County Regional Planning Commission office. If you are interested in the Maple River or any other river system in Mid-Michigan, you are cordially invited to attend.
The meeting will start at 5:30 PM with social/networking time and beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
The formal meeting will start at 6:00 PM with introductions and a recap of activities that have occurred in the various river watersheds during 2013, and looking ahead to plans for 2014. There will also be a discussion of a campaign to draw more public attention to the problems and programs in the Middle Grand River and the associated Red Cedar, Looking Glass and Maple River watersheds, and the local groups that are working to promote and to help resolve resource issues and problems in these watersheds.
The featured speaker for the evening will be Dr. Daniel Brown, Research Associate with the Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments Center. His presentation will be “Climate Change, and it’s Effects on Watersheds.”
