Mentoring invest in our community

Some stories are difficult to take. David Pelzer, for one is an incredibly difficult account for me to hear about, I cannot imagine how excruciating each and every day must have been for him as a kid. I wonder if things could have been different for him if someone had reached out to help. Age has taught me that I’m no different than anyone else, and if I feel that way there are probably many others who do, too. The desire to invest in a future resides in everyone.
That investment can be in the form of time; I can give some time, as little as an hour a week, to spend with a kid in a difficult situation. I can invest money, give some of my abundance to help someone who has the time, even when I don’t. Could that possibly give me a “double bang” for my buck?! I can invest resources; programs working with kids go through things like: Food, Drinks, Craft supplies, Games, Puzzles, and a variety of other things I may have lying around the house!
Clinton County 4-H Youth Mentoring is an excellent place to invest because:
77% of mentees involved in the program over the last three years have higher expectations of themselves because of the relationship with their mentor.
80% of mentors involved in the program over the last three years think their mentee has became more responsible.
This year we have 13 adult mentors, 45 teen mentors, and 56 youth matched with mentors! Many have answered the call to invest, and you can too! Simply by contacting the Clinton County MSU Extension office (989) 224-5240 you can find what your investment can do For Clinton County 4-H Youth Mentoring.
