Quilts and Motorcycles: Which is your pride and joy?

Do you have a family heirloom or a quilt you created yourself? Then consider displaying it at the Quilt Show during the 2010 St. Johns Mint Festival. Entry forms are available from the Chamber of Commerce or you can print one off the webpage at www.clintoncountychamber.org/mint. The Quilt Show will be open all hours of the festival – entries will need to be delivered to Smith Hall on the county fairgrounds on Thursday, August 12 between 3-6 pm. With your entry form you should include a brief write up about the quilt. Festival goers will select a “People’s Choice” and that entry will win a small prize. The quilt show will be monitored by volunteers during festival hours and securely locked up at night.
Also included in the Quilt Show is a Wall Hanging Quilt Challenge. Entries must be 50″ X 50″ or smaller and utilize the theme “What’s In a Circle”. Use your wildest imagination and show us what’s in your circle. Yes, you may use fabric with circles.
If your pride and joy is a motorcycle instead of a quilt, then you should display it at the festival. Motorcycles will be displayed in the newest open pavilion on the county fairgrounds throughout the weekend. While we would love for your bike to be displayed all weekend (or all of one of the days), if you are unable to have it up there all day it must be displayed at least four hours. There is a brief application that must be completed. Again, they are available at the Chamber.
There are a couple new events for Motorcycle lovers. This year there will also be a judged show on Saturday, August 14 from 12-4 pm. That show will also be in the newest open pavilion on the county fairgrounds. Then on Sunday, August 15 their will be a Blessing of the Bikes at 1:00 pm with a Bike Ride through Clinton County immediately following. The ride is expected to conclude by 3:00 pm.
Bikers should note that all entry into the county fairgrounds throughout the weekend is by way of Townsend Road. There will be a volunteer at the gate directing you to the location. Please do not attempt to enter through Sickles Street – you will be asked to turn around and enter by way of the Townsend Road entrance.
If you have any questions about either of these events, or any others of the festival, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 989-224-7248, or email them at ccchamber@power-net.net.
