30th Anniversary
The St. Johns Mint Festival Steering Committee is excited to be bringing the St. Johns community an exciting festival August 8, 9 and 10. Of course, the festival regular events like arts and crafts, free entertainment, kids games, carnival, quilt show and great foods will be at the festival, along with some new attractions.
All weekend the Nature’s Creek Mobile Zoo will be at the festival. They will have the traditional animals for a petting zoo, some exotic animals and they will have camel rides available. There will be a charge for the camel rides, pictures with the camels or exotic animals and feed cups.
On Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10, Central Michigan University will have their Starlab Planetarium at the festival. Their enclosed dome will be located inside Smith Hall on the County Fairgrounds. The Planetarium will feature a program called “Summer Under the Stars”. Participants will be taught how to located constellations that can be seen in the night sky in Michigan during the summer months. There will be no charge to enter the Planetarium.
Also on Saturday and Sunday the Classic K-9 Extreme Team will be at the festival with several shows such as K-9 High Jumping, Grand Prix (Agility) Racing and of course the Frisbee Dogs will be there. Shows will be held about every two hours and last approximately 30 minutes. They will be located in the grass area north of Smith Hall on the County Fairgrounds.
Finally, the Mint Festival will be part of a nationwide Dodge Tour. The Dodge Power Rallye Tour will be at the festival all weekend long to offer free test drives on all 8 of their vehicle line up. After the test drive participants will have the opportunity to Spin-To-Win for fun prizes. The Dodge Power Rallye Tour will be located in the parking lot just east of the High School Football field on Morton Street.
