TB skin test shortage

Restricting TB testing until further notice
Due to a nationwide shortage of tuberculin (TB) testing serum, the Mid-Michigan District Health Department (MMDHD) is restricting TB testing until further notice.
Effective October 1, 2013 MMDHD will only be administering the test to individuals who are deemed high risk and live in Clinton, Gratiot and Montcalm counties.
“Individuals requesting a TB test will be screened for their level of risk by one of our Public Health Nurses,” said Sarah Doak, MMDHD Communicable Disease Supervisor. “Those deemed high risk will be given the test while all others will be asked to wait.”
Those who are unable to wait because they are required to get the test before starting school or a new job should contact their primary care physician and request a blood test or chest X-ray.
Clients who wish to be screened or have questions may contact MMDHD at:
Clinton County: Becky Stoddard, R.N. at 989-227-3111
Gratiot County: Lisa Mikesell, R.N. at 989-875-1019
Montcalm County: Laura Grosskopf, R.N. at 989-831-3615
The shortage is expected to last at least until the end of October.
