Gregory Price
Mid-Michigan District Health Department (MMDHD) employee Gregory Price, Environmental Health Specialist II, has taken the next step in his career by receiving his Standardized Field Trainer certification.
This certification, awarded by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), certifies Price as an evaluator and trainer for all duties associated with the Food Safety Program in Michigan.

Price earned the endorsement following the successful completion of both a field and office review of his education and inspection skills compared to State and Federal standards.
An MDARD inspector evaluated Price’s ability to identify the following:
1. Poor personal hygiene
2. Food from unsafe sources
3. Inadequate cooking temperatures
4. Improper holding temperatures
5. Contaminated equipment
In his new role, Price will routinely assess both program and staff compliance with State and Federal standards, as well as identify and lead Food Safety program improvements.
According to Price, local health departments, in partnership with MDARD, are committed to protecting the public’s well- being through education, regulatory enforcement; problem solving, leadership, and expertise related to food safety issues.
“While the main goal of the Standardized Field Trainer program is to ensure that all health inspectors are doing risk-based inspections in the same manner,” said Price, “my personal goal is to reduce the risk of foodborne illness from food served at licensed food establishments.”
“I’d like to congratulate Greg on successfully obtaining this certification,” said Bob Gouin, MMDHD Environmental Health Division Director. “His coordination and oversight activities within the Food Safety program will begin this spring.”
