For kids programs at Museum
In a sense, Kiwanis and kids are almost synonymous, as the former directs much attention to the activities of young people.
That interest was evident recently when Diane Carlson, director of Paine-Gillam-Scott Museum in St. Johns, accepted a check for $300.00 in support of that facility’s ongoing schedule of activities, programs and tours designed especially to interest the minds of youngsters. Particular programs frequently center on the theme of a timely holiday period, emphasizing history and crafts related to the time.
In comments to the Kiwanis club while accepting the grant, Ms Carlson explained that currently the kid’s program theme will be “Christmas on the Home Front.”
A check was presented to Ms Carlson by Marilyn Thelen, chair of Kiwanis Youth Services. In her capacity as chair of that committee, Ms Thelen keeps an eye on youth activities and manners in which Kiwanis may assist young people in developing community awareness.
