Through December 17
Paine-Gillam-Scott House will be open this year through December 17. Staff and volunteers are already preparing Paine-Gillam-Scott House for Christmas. This is an exciting time of the year for the volunteers who enjoy the task of decorating for a Victorian Christmas, and do so beautifully.
The permanent Military Exhibit and the revised Calendar Hall on the second floor are open along with a Sports in Clinton County exhibit on the first floor. From now until the end of this year Paine-Gillam- Scott House also offers one last opportunity to see a high-wheel bicycle on loan. This “Columbia Expert” 50 inch high-wheeler is the style used by members of the St. Johns Bicycle Band in the 1800’s. The bike will be returned at the end of the museum season.
Paine-Gillam-Scott House received several visitors over the past few months, thanks to articles published in newspapers around Michigan. The Michigan Historical Society sponsored these articles and we were delighted to have people from all around Michigan visit the museum.
Comments about the museum ranged from “We didn’t know there was a museum in St. Johns” to “This place is a Gem”. If you have not visited the Paine-Gillam-Scott House, including the Carriage House and the General Store, please come and see “The Gem” of Clinton County featuring artifacts and history of Clinton County.

Second grade students from St. Joseph School try out the Bastille
Students from the Adventure Club, Gateway School, and St. Joseph’s School visited the Paine-Gillam-Scott House and complex in recent months. Several groups of high school students from Clinton County RESA Programs have also toured the facility.
Volunteers enjoy sharing the history of Clinton County and showing students and guests unique artifacts housed in all three buildings. A fun attraction for most guests was being locked in the Bastille and having their picture taken.
Paine-Gillam-Scott House is open Wednesdays from 2 pm to 7 pm and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. For further information on group tours, please call 989-224-2894, or email the museum at PGSMuseum@hotmail.com. Beginning December 18, 2014, PGS Museum will be closed until May, 2015.
